1. Define what success means to you, in detail. We all have a different definition of success, which is something I believe is BEAUTIFUL. What I define as success may or may not be what you define as success so it is best for you to get very clear and specific on what it is you truly want.
2. Define the meaningful reason WHY you must achieve your success but make it so meaningful that if you failed to achieve your success, you'd be doing yourself and those around you a disservice. Avoid saying things like, "I want to look good. I want to have a lot of money. I want to be in love. Etc." Instead, say things like, "I want to become the father I never had. I want to have healthy kids. I want to help fellow young entrepreneurs take their passions to the next level." Say something significant.
3. Identify the 1 habit that is sabotaging you from achieving your success. As bad as you want to reach that next level of success, become mindful that yes, you do currently have bad habits that are sabotaging you. But is this something you should worry about? Not if you plan on putting this 6 simple step process for breaking bad habits into action.
4. Identify the cues, either physical or emotional that are triggering your habit by placing yourself in the state where you're just about to engage in your sabotaging behavior. Become mindful of how you feel and what you're thinking about yet DO NOT attempt to avoid your feelings. Simply take out your journal and get your thoughts and feelings down into writing.
5. Choose a habit that will support you on your journey and replace your sabotaging habit with the supportive habit you've selected. When your just about ready to engage in your sabotaging habit, rather than engaging in your bad habit, engage in the supportive habit you've selected.
6. Commit to engaging in your newly selected habit for 30 days. Doing so will ensure you replace your old bad habit with a habit that supports your journey towards achieving your success. And yes, I am aware that this will not be as easy as it seems but I believe in you and your will to persevere!
Keep in mind, success is a fragile topic of conversation that can easily be broken down into two simple choices, you either want it or you don't. Simple as that.
But it's time you've made the decision for yourself because it's your life, your future, your destiny, your success, and your choice. Though you ONLY have 1 life to live and 1 opportunity to make it significant.
